A Pro-Life Legacy to Last a Lifetime: Parts 1 & 2
Dr. John and Barbara Willke were on the front lines of the battle for life long before Roe vs. Wade, but they could not have imagined then that their lives would be central to the development of a worldwide pro-life movement. In part one, Dr. Willke recalls the early years of the movement and the impact he and his wife had across the world. He also discusses his new book, Abortion and the Pro-Life Movement: An Inside View, an autobiographical, behind-the-scenes perspective of the history of the movement.
In part two, Dr. Willke talks about his continued pro-life work focusing on education and research through Life Issues Institute. For years, he used the argument that abortion kills and harms babies. But new research consisting of market testing provided a new argument: abortion doesn't just kill babies; it hurts women. Peggy Hartshorn and Hannah Bell look to the future of the pro-life movement and speak to the importance of this next generation learning from history and taking up the torch to work towards ending abortion.
The Willkes had been married nearly 65 years when Barbara died unexpectedly in 2013. Over four decades they established an amazing pro-life legacy of education and activism that will lead the movement for years to come.
